Two half marathons this year.

So it's just a couple weeks away from the Calgary Marathon. I'm running the Subaru half marathon and my right knee was starting to give me a little greif...great two weeks out and I've had to stop training...for a few days anyway. An ice pack, some rest, and a couple tablets of Aleve and I should be ok. I should also thank Sheena Denscombe with "Team In Training" who has been whipping my muscles back into shape with MAT.(Muscle Activation Techniques ) Amazing stuff!

Anyway, as soon as the Calgary Marathon is under my belt I start training with Leukemia and Lymphoma Society "Team In Training" as we get ready for the Rock N' Roll Half Marathon in Montreal September 23. We are looking for a group of people who are willing to take on the challenge and join us in Montreal! Team In Training takes care of all the costs and logistics ...

Come run with me in Montreal!

Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would run a half marathon, and this year I'm running 2! I think back to grade 7 when we were forced to run a mile before gym class and how much it made me want to puke! In Junior High my scrawney 120 pounds was probably better suited for long distance running but even with that advantage I hated it! So what am I doing taking on this challenge in my mid 40's? Well, I think there comes a time when you look at yourself and say, "what do I want my life to be?" Do I want to be healthy, active and youthful, or am I ok with unhealthy choices that will keep me on the couch and probably take me out of this world before I get to see my daughter grow up? I chose to get healthy again. ...

Twas The Day Before Christmas

‘TWAS THE DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS

Twas the day before Christmas and all through the town,

People were running, around and around,

Trying to get through another long line,

To hit one more store, before closing time,

There’s much to do ‘cause Santa’s on his way,

We shop for two months, he works one day,

Christmas wrap is flying, the Scotch tape whines,

I’d like to take a nap, but there just isn’t time,

Dinner it comes, and then it is gone,

It’s soon ten o’clock, I don’t have very long,

Just wrap one more gift and assemble that toy,

And we can sit back and wait for the joy,

But the toy’s instructions weren’t written for me,

I can’t get tab “A” to fit in slot “B”,

The kids are asleep, awaiting their gifts,

While we’re in the basement, exchanging fits,
