It is the most wonderful time of the year, the time when every radio station is playing Christmas music. No matter what station you turn to there is a good chance there will be a holiday classic getting blasted into your ear drums, in the best possible way.
If you’re not in the holiday spirit yet, then here are three of my favorite songs that I think will get you in the Christmas mood.
Faith Hill, Where Are You Christmas?
If you love the movie “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, then you will for sure love this hit. Originally it was written by Mariah Carey, the queen of Christmas. However due to some legally issue Mariah was unable to release the song.
Luckily for our ears Faith Hill swept it up and sang her little heart out.
This song may be slow, but it is truly touching and for sure put you in the spirit this holiday season.
Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer
Though this song describes a sight most unpleasant, it is by far one of the catchiest song you will ever hear.
The novelty holiday song was originally released in 1979 by Elmo and Patsy.
But, was not released in Canada until 1982 when The Irish Rovers covered it in their album: It was a Night like This.
If this song does not get you into a holly jolly mood, then maybe the 2000 animated movie, “Grandmas got run over by a Reindeer” will.
I strongly suggest checking them both out.
Leroy The Redneck Reindeer
Who knew that Rudolph had a cousin? Or that having red body parts was a genetic trait?
Well Leroy is his country cousin who lives out in the sticks and is always willing to help out when Rudolph needs him. Oh and he has a red neck, instead of a red nose……Get it? It’s clever!
Performed by Joe Diffie in 1995, this Christmas song is so catchy it hurts.
Once you listen to the song you should go check out the music video!
Also congrats on having this song permanently stuck in your head for ever.
