Lady Antebellum released the video for the title track of their “Heart Break” album today. The video features a woman leaving her husband/boyfriend/lover under what looks like somewhat dangerous circumstances. The songs lyrics are those of empowerment and the great joy that can come from being single:
“Don’t need nobody’s help, zipping up my own dress
Pay my own tab, with my own cash, unattached
Sometimes the world alone, sounds like a sad song
Why’s it gotta be, cause what I really need is a reset”
There is an added layer to this video, as Lady Antebellum filmed it in Puerto Rico months earlier, before the devastation that Hurricane Mari brought to the area. They’ve premiered the video today with a special donation of $200,000 to help locals rebuild their lives.
Hillary Scott spoke about the donation and implores others to help:
“We got to meet so many locals and enjoy just everything that Puerto Rico has to offer and so to see all the devastation we are just completely heart broken. We want to do everything we can to support this incredible place and these incredible people. We just hope and pray for their safety and that rebuilding happens quickly. We encourage everyone to give whatever they can to help.”
