The phenomenal Nicole Kidman received an Emmy award on Sunday night for her role in the fantastic HBO series Big Little Lies. In the show, she plays Celeste Wright a beautiful woman who seems to have it all – the perfect life with two gorgeous children and a fabulous husband, but as the show progresses, we come to understand that all is not as it appears and Celeste is actually a victim of domestic abuse.
Nicole has admitted that the role left her feeling ‘completely humiliated and devastated’ but most of those who watched the show thought her portrayal of Celeste was haunting and accurate.
In accepting her Emmy award, Nicole continued to shine a light on victims of domestic violence. Watch her emotional speech here:
And with that topic in mind, Roger Rhodes and I – Robyn Adair – will be strapping on some high heels today and walking down Stephen Avenue for the annual YWCA’s Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event to raise funds and awareness for family violence programs.
