Just days after officer Jeronimo Yanez was found not guilty in the shooting death of Philando Castile, authorities released the dashcam video of the shooting that was shown to the jury during the trial.
Almost a year ago, on July 6, 2016 Philando Castile was driving in his car with his girlfriend and his girlfriend’s four-year-old daughter when they were pulled over for a broken tail light. The videos below recount the events of what happened next. Officer Jeronimo Yanez asks Castile to get his ID and registration from his wallet and when he starts to do so Yanez fires his gun several times, shooting Castile.
You can hear the four-year-old daughter telling her mom not to scream “because I don’t want you to get shooted.”
Yanez was acquitted of all charges on June 16, 2017.
