The relationship that we have with our pets is truly special and profound and many pet owners agree that without their pets, they may not be here. This is certainly true of Tracy Matkea of Edmonton.
While she was vacationing in Arizona last year, she fell off her horse and hit her head. Her four-year-old dog, Becky Jo, jumped right into action by running home and barking insistently until Tracy’s husband realized something must be wrong. Tracy’s husband, Butch followed Becky Jo on a four-wheeler back to where his wife fell off the horse.
Tracy required more than 100 stitches and staples to her head and lost a lot of blood, but is now doing quite well and thrilled to see her dog, Becky Jo inducted into the Purina Animal Hall of Fame, which honours outstanding life-saving acts of animal courage and heroism.
