If you were lucky enough to have a seat in the Saddledome on Saturday night then you were lucky enough to witness this very special adaptation of Eric Church’s The Holdin’ My Own Tour show. Although…this definitely was not planned.
One day before the show, a media alert was released saying that, “Heavy snowfall and a three-week cold snap have brought significant lasting snow accumulation to the rood of the Calgary Scotiabank Saddledome.” Eric Church and his crew would have to scale back the special effects associated with the setup.
BUT as we know, Eric Church would do anything for his fans. Just this year Church cancelled more than 25,000 tickets that were purchased by scalpers and put them back on sale for his fans to purchase. For The Holdin My Own Tour the show had to go on and Eric decided to present an extremely unique “stripped-down” concert which consisted of a mostly solo and acoustic set.
One fan said, “@ericchurchmusic thank you. Not only for an incredible show (which still feels like an understatement.) But for making it about the music again. No flames shooting from the stage. No wardrobe changes. Just raw talent and a guitar.”
And here are what others had to say:
Well Eric, it’s safe to say that you’re welcome back to #YYC whenever your heart desires!
