Seven years after they were eliminated, the provincial finance minister is looking to bring back health care premiums for Albertans. Robin Campbell says he is “keen” on the idea because across the province people have been very clear that they “understand the need for them to help cover the cost” of health care. And why not? We willingly pay for our car’s insurance without barely a thought, why wouldn’t you pay to insure your body? Or is that the government’s job? What are your thoughts?
Before premiums were eliminated the fee for a family was more than 500 dollars per person and more than 1000 dollars per family. Lower-income Albertans and seniors were exempt.
