It’s the joy they bring that’s been a joy to me.
The most enjoyable season in recent memory is in it’s stretch run and the Calgary Flames are in the playoff tournament chase with fellow Canadians Winnipeg and Vancouver along with the champs of Los Angeles.
That’s news enough for good cheer but it’s been more than winning.
It’s the excitement for the game so much young blood has brought to the Flames that’s made it special for me. Who can’t love the underdog Josh Jooris story, the brilliance of rookie Johnny Gaudreau and the startling steps forward taken by 20 year old center Sean Monahan.
Too fresh to be jaded or worn down, it’s “Can-Do” every night out for this team. That’s to be treasured.
30 teams will tell you they are in the business of winning hockey games. But only one ultimately will each year.
Sports is the entertainment business. And for this season and the games yet to come, it’s “Bravo Flames!”
